Hi Matt with etrailer and today we're talking about Yakima Roof Rack on top of our 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Now this can be a great option for you if you're running outta space in the back of your vehicle, whether you have a lot of people back here already or you have any items that are longer that just can't fit back here, anything like skis or a kayak. So let's check it out. The kit we have today is gonna be a fixed mounting point kit. So what that means is since we have flush rails, the way this is going to attach is we're gonna have two bolts that go into the fit kit itself and bolt into your roof. And you won't be able to really play around with your crossbar spread like with some other roof rack options. more

Hey everyone, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be showing you how to install the Blue Ox second vehicle breakaway switch kit. Before we do that though, let's take a minute, check this out and make sure it's gonna work for you. So one of the awesome things about the Blue Ox Patriot supplemental braking systems is the fact that they're super easy to set up, which can allow you to, you know, take it outta one vehicle and put it in another. So if you maybe just pick this Jeep up and you already have a Patriot system and another vehicle that you flat tow and you wanna pull the Jeep too, you could get this kit and set it up on your Jeep and that'll allow you to take that braking system that you already have and use it on your Grand Cherokee. So it's pretty convenient and not to mention too, you know, since they do, you know, you can take them out real easy If you end up selling your old car, buying a new one, you can keep that system, use a kit like this and be able to flat tow this. more

Before we do that though, let's just take a minute, talk about this, and why it's a good idea to use a charge line. So whenever you're flat towing your vehicle down the road, what can happen is your battery can slowly get depleted over time. And that's because on some vehicles, you know the, just the computer system, electrical systems in general will create a draw. But, for all of them that use a supplemental braking system, that braking system is going to use your Jeep's battery power every time it turns on. more

This is gonna adapt a Roadmaster base plate to certain types of tow bars. This right here is the Roadmaster Tow Bar Adapter on our 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. And this is what our Air Force One looks like when it's installed the components are gonna be installed throughout the vehicle it's gonna be hidden underneath, so you're really not gonna notice too much that the system's even installed here. The main operating unit here is where kind of where all the magic happens. It's gonna receive air from your motor home and it's specifically designed to work with motor home's with air brakes. And, it'll utilize that air pressure to send it to a cylinder located on the pedal, that'll activate the brake pedal. more

So this kit is going to allow you to do a few things, probably the big one being, allow you to use a Brake Controller. So it's gonna provide us with the 7-Way here and the necessary wiring and things of that nature, to be able to hook a Brake Controller up to it. Now granted, you are gonna have to get a separate Brake Controller, one that's not included with the kit, but everything is there generally speaking to get it all hooked up. The only thing that I had to add to ours was a No-Drill Long Bracket that way I could actually mount this up. more

Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect Installation - 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Hey, everyone, Shane here at etrailer.com. Today, I have a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I'm going to walk through how I installed the Roadmaster Battery Disconnect for towed vehicles. On the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, it's gonna require the battery to be disconnected. Rather than getting under the passenger's seat to disconnect them with positive cable wire, or negative cable each time you want to tow the vehicle, adding the battery gets connect makes it easy because it's going to put a button inside the vehicle where all you have to do is push it when you're ready and it's going to disconnect the battery and all the power inside the vehicle. Installation process is pretty simple and straightforward, the hardest part about doing it is mounting it inside the battery box, where I mounted it, however, it really wasn't too bad. more

So using a battery charger, whenever you're towing your Jeep down the road is a really smart thing to do. And I say that because whenever your braking system is operating inside of your Jeep, it's gonna take power from the Grand Cherokees battery. And when you're over the road for a long time, constantly taken a little bit of juice, that battery can wear down and become flat and more or less kind of leave you stranded with a dead battery whenever you get to your destination. Adam: What's going on everybody, Adam here with etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima round bar roof rack system on our 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. We all know that Jeeps are very capable vehicles, but putting a roof rack on top of it is going to definitely widen its amount of capabilities. I really like our etrailer basket on top, just because if you have a bunch of people inside, you have a bunch of other stuff in the back, we can actually pretty much double the amount that we can fit in the back up on top of our roof. Another thing you can do is we have J-style carriers that you can put up on top to get two kayaks to and from your destination.With 48 inches of crossbars, we are going to have a lot of different things we can put up on there. I've seen a bunch of different bike racks on there. more

Invisible, isn't it That's because it has a removable end, we'll go ahead and remove the cover from it. This keeps any dirt and debris from getting inside of the receiving end for the removable accessories that can be placed in it. We're going to go ahead and pop it in. Today in our in 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're going to be taking a look at the Scosche Windshield Heads-up Display. A heads-up display can add another level of safety to your vehicle. It's going to let us know our engine RPMs and our miles per hour without ever having to take our eyes off the road because it's going to display it directly on the windshield. Roadmaster Flexo-Coil Kit Installation - 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today, on our 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Roadmaster seven-wire to six-wire Flexo-Coil kit, part number RN dash one four six dash seven.So here's what our plug's gonna look like on the front of our Jeep. We mounted ours right below our license plate, that way we have our electrical connector easily accessible when we hook up to our motor home. Our kit is gonna come with a seven to six-way cord, so we can plug this seven-way into our RV, and the six way into the front of our Jeep. Now it is gonna be a coiled cord, so it's gonna keep it nice and contracted when it's not plugged in, but it is gonna expand up to eight feet. That way, we can reach from the front of our Jeep to our motor home, and not worry about it dragging the ground.The internal part of our plugs are both gonna be silicone injected, so they're gonna stand up to the elements and the weather, and make sure we don't get any corrosion built up on the terminals inside. And the outer part of the cord is gonna be resistant against water as well as any other salt or road grimes that may be on the road.Now the center pin on our six-way cord is gonna be 12-volt power. more

Speaker 1: Today this 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Towing accessories kit for Alpha and Aventa LX Tow Bars, part #BX88231.This makes it a quick and easy setup for you to stay safe and legal when you're flat towing your Grand Cherokee. This gives you the necessary lighting functions they need by law in order to be legal, you'll have your tail lights, your turn signals and your brake lights.These are what our diode packs look like installed. With this diode packs are going to do to our vehicle, by allowing us to use the factory bulbs, they also prevent any voltage being backfed into out expensive electrical circuits from the motorhome. These will only allow electricity to pass in one direction. So our factory lights will still work as normal through the factory, and when we're flat towing it, it'll come in through our four pole flat wires, and out to the factory bulb.Now another thing that comes with this kit is our seven to six way coiled wire kit. The seven-way will go towards the motorhome, and the six-way will go to the front of our Grand Cherokee. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnect, Part Number RM-222. They're going to be directly attached on removal arms, and these are going to make it easy to put your tow bar on and take it off from your RV. When it comes time to not use them, you simply remove the arms and they stay attached. When you're ready to use it, slide your arm in, twist so it locks into place. When it comes time to hook up to your RV, you simply take your tow bar, match up the holes with the pins, slide it into place, attached your included safety pins. Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster battery charge line kit for towed vehicles, part number RM-156-25. This kit is gonna allow your RV's battery to be used to maintain the charge in your towed vehicle's battery so that when you get to your camp site or wherever you're going your towed vehicle's ready to go.First thing we're gonna do is we're gonna mount our breaker. Now my battery hookup's on that side, my power is gonna be running down to the front of my grill. It's awful tight over here, I'm not gonna be able to get a drill in so I think here is gonna be about as good as place as any and it's halfway in between both places. We'll take self tapping screw, drill one of our holes, and then put our other screw in.We're gonna take our power wire, we're gonna strip it back, we'll take one of our smaller ring terminals that come in our kit, connect it on the ends, go ahead and crimp it down. We'll take some electrical tape then we're gonna hook it to the side that says battery which is gonna be this bottom one, kind of a brass color. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be test fitting the Yakima RoundBar roof rack system, consisting of part numbers Y00408, these are the round 48 inch crossbars, part number Y00148, these are the skyline towers for the Yakima crossbars for fixed mounting parts, part number Y003536, which is the RoundBar SL adapter for the Yakima baseline, skyline, timberline towers, and finally part number Y00244. This is the landing pad kit to fit specifically on your Jeep Grand Cherokee.The Yakima RoundBar roof rack system is great for carrying a wide variety of accessories on your roof while freeing up space inside your vehicle. This can carry anything from bike racks to cargo baskets to cargo boxes. With the RoundBars, you may experience some noise while you drive, but Yakima does offer fairings, which you can find on etrailer.com to cut down that wind noise and drag as well. Also with our end caps here, we do have plastic knockouts that can be removed and replaced with the Yakima SKS lock systems, which are sold separately. So, you can actually secure this to your roof, but you can also make it keyed alike with the accessories that you're hauling as well.It's also very easy to use. more

Roadmaster Single Park Light Diode Installation - 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee we're going to be showing you how to install the Roadmaster Single Park light Diode that's used on the charge wire. Part number is RM-690. If we've got 12 volt power at the 7 pull in the back of our motor home we can actually use that power to trickle charge the charging system that's in our vehicle. Now to connect to our Park Light Diode we need to run a 12 volt wire from our plug in here at the front of the vehicle on back to where we'll eventually mount the diode closer to our 12 volt power connection source. We just run it kind of through the front of it here just so you have enough to wire it up, and then we can follow along with whatever wiring that we've ran. Those base plates are going to have at minimum a break away switch. In this case we've got an air line and a couple other things. more

Trailer Brake Controller Installation - 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, part number 90195. We'll be doing this in conjunction with the Tekonsha Plug-and-Play Direct Fit Wiring Harness, part number 3045-P, designed to plug into the Jeep Grand Cherokee tow port. It displays a no trailer connection until we plug it in. When it's connected, we'll see it boot up. It indicates we're in Boost 1 trailer wiring connected. We can adjust the gain as necessary or go through the menu display for the brake type. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee we'll be installing the CURT Venturer brake controller, part number C51110. We're going to be installing this in conjunction with the direct fit wiring harness or adapter, part number C51446. Now to begin our install we're first going to take the direct fit pigtail with the matching plug and plug directly into the manufacturer's brake controller tow port. Once we click and lock it in place we can go ahead and route the pigtail. Keep in mind to stay away from any moving components such as the gas, brake, or parking brake pedal. Once I have it routed into position, simply use a zip tie to secure it as necessary. To be in position you'll route it near where you're going to mount your brake controller. more

We're going to use this in conjunction with the CURT brake controller direct fit pigtail, part number C51446. Now to begin our install we're first going to take the direct fit pigtail with the matching plug and plug directly into the manufacturer's brake controller tow port. Husky Shield Vehicle Paint Protectors Installation - 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee- Video
Today on 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be installing the Husky Shield Vehicle Paint Protectors for the hood and door edges, part number HL06411. We'll also be using part number HL07999 which is an installation kit for the Husky Shield Vehicle Paint Protectors and is not included. We want to begin by adding the contents of the solution into our 32 oz spray bottle provided in the kit. Once we have those mixed, we can shake and then spray the front edge of the hood with a mixed solution. Now, we'll grab our surface prep putty and scrub the entire front edge of our hood. Be sure to only use the surface prep putty when the surface is wet. If used on a dry surface, the putty will be sticky and not perform as intended. more

Now, to begin the install of our new brake controller, on the driver side above the gas and brake pedal is a carpeted paneling that will need to be removed. To remove it, there are two push pin fasteners that will pry out that will release the carpeting, swing pull it out and set it aside for installation later. Next, above the emergency brake pedal, the white box is a grey plug. Grey plug will match the grey connector on the end of our new brake controller pigtail. We'll go ahead and put our grey plug on the pigtail into the grey socket on the manufacturer side. Now, once we push the connector into position and it locks in place, we'll go ahead and start the routing wires and securing it up underneath the dash. more

Today, on a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we'll be test fitting the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Weight Distribution Shank for Two-Inch Hitches, Part Number AMAC1.Before we begin our test fit, we will first need to obtain the hitch height of our vehicle. The hitch height is the measurement from the ground to the inside top of the receiver tube. We got a measurement of 14-1/2 inches.Keep in mind that this measurement will vary due to hitch style, tire size or any other aftermarket accessory.We'll now begin our test fit in the drop position by sliding the shank of the ball mount into the opening of the hitch, lining up the pinholes and securing it with the pin and clip.You can also flip the ball mount over into the rise position to give you some additional height.This ball mount can be used with a pintle hook combo with balls, which is sold separately; a ball mount adapter, which is also sold separately; and a Clevis Pin Adapter. You can choose the best accessory to fit your trailer configuration.That completes today's test fit for the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned Weight Distribution Shank for Two-Inch Hitches, Part Number AMAC1 on our 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. more
